An Update from Sandi
From the Executive Director…..
The Bible says that we do not have a spirit of fear, but of love and discipline . “For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7
But many times I find myself fearful. Fearful in ministry, fearful of the future, fearful for my family. I must remember, however, where this fear originates. My fear is natural, but I have to remember that I have been invaded by the supernatural Christ. So it is with that power that I must CHOOSE, with my will, to place my mind on the things of Christ. “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, what- ever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.“ Phil. 4:8
My initial fear is defeating, but I must not camp there. I must give that fear back to God, and fill myself with the truth of His Word. The antithesis to fear is love. “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear…” (I John 4:8)
The staff at New Life Adoptions recently went away for a prayer and planning retreat to discuss what we believe are the future goals for the ministry. To start, we would like to be the most recognized adoption agency in the greater Houston area- not because we want attention or recognition, but because it allows us to reach more people with the knowledge of what we do. It allows us to make Jesus famous for the work He is already doing in the lives that have been changed. It also allows us to share the Gospel.
We also want to replicate our ministry to at least one other Texas city in the next 5 years. That means additional staff, programs, and support. Some of our goals seem insurmountable. Yet in the face of the impossible, God will provide and increase when we operate out of the power and purposes of His Holy Spirit. I want to be fearless as I face the future, in ministry and in my personal walk with the Savior. I want to be bold as we seek the Lord for His purposes for the ministry. I want to rest in the knowledge that our God is sovereign and bigger than any of the world’s problems, and I don’t have to be afraid.
As Christians, we don’t get to run and hide. We are commanded to go and serve. To be His ambassadors of the gospel (which is for ALL people). To share, in love, the incredible gift of grace and salvation that Christ provided through the cross because of His love. This is our purpose at New Life. Would you pray with us that God will continue to grow and replicate this ministry, and that we as a staff will be bold in asking Him to fulfill His purpose in all that we do?
Praying for you, and praying for your heart to be challenged and encouraged as we look to 2019!
